The Umeda Building

Umeda, 1993, is 40-story twin tower building in Osaka connected at their two top floors via glass bridges with escalators that cross an open atrium space.

A 40m escalator stretches up the last 5 floors.

The top deck connecting the two towers was constructed using the “lift up” method to put together the structure on the ground and then lifted it up to the top. The deck is among the heaviest structures in the world to have been successfully raised using this method.
